NATIONAL SALES MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY: 

Responsible for obtaining profitable results through the sales team by developing the team through motivation, counselling, skills development and product knowledge development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the sales administration function, operations, performance reporting, streamlining processes and systems wherever possible and advising senior management on maximizing business relationships and creating an environment where customer service can flourish.
  • Assist in the development of the annual business plan specifically advising on realistic forecasts for each principal and territory based on historical data, market trends, competitive activity, sales strategy and overall company directions
  • Responsible for creating a positive environment that supports, motivates and leads to the development of an outstanding sales team.
  • Responsible for managing the sales team developing a business plan covering sales revenue, territory management, establish metrics for success, set clear daily priorities and drive the team to meet goals within a set timeframe.
  • Responsible for the planning, recruitment, direction, organization and control of the sales team to accomplish specific objectives.
  • Responsible for monitoring the performance of the sales team by establishing a system of reports and communications involving sales reports, sales meetings and electronic bulletins.
  • Plan and implements a specific appraisal system that describes the responsibilities and performance standards for each member of the sales team. Set individual territory targets and monitor performance.
  • Personally observe the performance of the BDS/HRI Specialist’s in the field on a regular basis.
  • Provide high standards of ongoing training and coaching to ensure that the sales team is equipped with the technical knowledge to present information on the company’s products in an accurate manner.
  • Participates in meetings, trainings and other Principal initiated activities

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  Post Graduate Diploma/ Master’s Degree is an advantage.
  • At least 10 years direct proven creative and aggressive sales management experience in an FMCG, Distribution or Foodservice industry.
  • Preferably Managers specializing in Sales and Operations or its equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal, sales presentation and management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong coaching, people and leadership skills
  • Strong general management knowledge
  • High level of integrity and judgement
  • Ability to succeed in a fast paced environment
  • Problem solving, attention to details, strategic thinking and can do attitude.
  • Results orientation, business acumen and customer focus
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications
